Summary: Operates various machining equipment and multiple measuring devices to produce completed friction parts for industrial/vehicular use.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
. Set-up and operate machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, routers, drills, sanding machines, and grinders, to machine
metallic/nonmetallic work pieces according to specifications while applying knowledge of machining methods.
. Reads blueprint or job order for product specifications, such as dimensions and tolerances, and tooling instructions, such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut, and determines sequence of operations.
. Observes operation of machine, removes finished parts from the machine and verifies conformance of machined work piece to specifications, using measuring instruments, such as fixed gauges, calipers, and micrometers
. Carefully inspects all pieces for defects and removes excess material from parts.
. Participates in scrap review and corrective-preventive action meetings.
. Able to make program changes and submit the change(s) to the engineering department.
. Keep correct counts and completes necessary paperwork in a neat and organized manner.
. Follows all safety guidelines and notifies supervision of all accidents or safety related concerns.
. Practices good housekeeping by maintaining the work area in clean and organized fashion.
. Perform other duties that may be assigned or requested.
Education and/or Experience:
. Two plus (2+) years prior experience in running mills/lathes or comparable machining experience.
