Provide engineering support necessary to ensure that the quality of products shipped meet customer requirements.  Continuously improve manufacturing, development, customer satisfaction, quality control and quality assurance processes. Assure compliance to ISO-9001 and customer requirements.

. Investigate and address customer quality issues, including:

working with manufacturing areas to address improvements
communicate with suppliers to reach a workable solution to the issue
work with sales/product management to communicate actions to customers
. Manage parts and materials.

Communicate with suppliers to get declarations or test data
Respond to customer requests for declarations
Coordinate material testing on parts and raw materials with outside testing
lab
Maintain database of information
. Support building and maintaining systems to achieve ISO 9001 registration

. Internal Auditor:  Lead and participate in internal audits to ISO 9001 for
all functional areas.  Coordinate with functional area managers to gain
closure on audit findings using the Corrective Action System.

. Perform supplier quality audits at major suppliers.

. Support with implementing statistical tools in a form that results in
improved quality and/or reduced cost, (e.g. measurement system analysis,
sampling schemes, Cpk, SPC)

. Optical Power Meters

. Contact gauging equipment, including but not limited to pin gauges,
calipers, and micrometers

. Macintosh and PC-compatible personal computer including CAD, spreadsheet,
word processor, SPC software.

. Optical fibers, fiber-optic connectors, and miscellaneous fiber-optic
hardware

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

. Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering discipline

. Experience in a company which is ISO-9001 registered.  Actual
participation on successful implementation team is desirable.

. Experience in process engineering and process development, especially
Quality architecture development.

. Experience with statistical process control methods, process controls,
control charts and other process metrics.  Measurement system experience is
desirable.

. General knowledge and “hands on” experience with fiber-optic cable and
hardware, metrology and mechanical and electronic instrumentation.

. Knowledge of experiment design and data analysis.

. Ability to perform with minimal supervision and to translate verbal and
written instructions into process documentation.

. Knowledge of personal computers including Word, Excel, Outlook.  Working
knowledge of ERP software is a plus.

Requirements:
1.  Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering.
2.  2 to 5 years experience in quality engineer in a company which is ISO-9001 registered.
3.  Experience with statistical process control methods, process controls, control charts and other process metrics.
4.  Hands on experience with fiber-optic cable and hardware, metrology and mechanical and electronic instrumentation.
